Storage System Simulation

Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) simulation

Modeling and simulation is a flexible and effective approach not only to test and evaluate network storage system performance under various system configurations and workload conditions without actually deploying the system, but also to investigate and determine optimum design parameters when setting up or proposing a new/enhanced network storage system to meet objectives. Currently we are working on two main areas. One is the design and development of a network storage system simulation software with capabilities to simulate the performance of such systems at both the device and the system levels. The other is to design and develop algorithms to address data integrity and performance issues on Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR)/Two Dimensional Magnetic Recording (TDMR) disks.
